This installation is a typical residential installation for large holiday homes with heating, hot water and pool heating all coming from on-site HONE systems all year round. In this location in Western Italy, some backup is needed in the depths of winter and this is provided by a wood burning stove.

HONE is the primary energy system of all the buildings energy footprint. This HONE system is designed to put all its energy into the building in winter at low temperature as an alternative to previous oil fired heating. The home is typically empty during the winter.

The system installed is a standard HONE Heating, Hot Water with Pool Heating System. A wood burning stove provides any winter backup if the home is used. In winter the HONE system puts all its energy into providing low temp heating to keep the house warm and free from dampness.

The homeowner wanted to remove the oil fired heating ahead of carbon taxes.

The energy bills will be extremely low with only timber consumed if the home is used at any time during the winter, the vast majority of energy will be powered by the HONE system for free.

This house was a retrofit, a very simple straight forward project. This project used a mix of radiator and underfloor heating throughout the building. The HONE system integrated easily.

This system is designed to do most if not all of the annual house, hot water & pool heating over the year as the home is typically empty in winter.
