VIRGIN ISLANDS – HONE Chalet Hot Water Systems – HONE

This installation is our standard HONE residential Hot Water System, designed to hot water to the guests all year round. This tourist accommodation is made up of 30 waterside chalets where the electricity supply was very unreliable. Electricity was not an issue as candlelight was the norm at night but the lack of hot water was a real problem.

The low amperage of the available supply meant each cabin was not able to keep up with demand using electricity. HONE Hot Water systems were installed in each cabin and hot water is now available free and on demand.

What HONE system has been installed here?

The system installed is a standard HONE Hot Water System. The HONE system is the only hot water system.

What was the motivation for the owner to do the upgrade?

The owner was facing significant negative feedback from guests over the lack of hot water which is now expected on demand in any accommodation business. The electricity supply was not up gradable without significant expense so the business owner searched for a one stop solution to sort the issue once and for all.

Where there any challenges with this installation?

This chalets were a retrofit, a very simple straight forward project. This project used a 300L hot water cylinder to cover the 24 hour day. The existing electric heater systems were removed.

What are the savings expected?

This system is designed to do most of the annual hot water 12 months of the year, there was a 100% saving over the existing electric heating and the customer issues were also dealt with.
