Householders & Businesses to meet 75% of the £1.4 Trillion to fund switch to Heat Pumps & EV’s by 2050

“Householders and Businesses to meet 75% of the £1.4 Trillion to fund the switch to Heat Pumps & EV’s by 2050”, Office of Budget Responsibility states”

For the last 5 years, questions have been asked about the “high” cost of delivering the Government’s ambitious climate change targets.

This week the Office of Budget Responsibility attempted to put numbers on this issue. They expect the Government to pick up approx £350 Billion of the cost by 2050, approx £12.5 Billion a year.

However, the total cost of transition to zero-carbon strategies replacing inexpensive gas boilers with expensive electric alternatives such as heat pumps, electric boilers & EV’s to be £1.4 Trillion, of which homeowners and businesses will pay 75%.

They also cited significant strain on exchequer funds with debt levels being high and ongoing long-term financial pressures due to COVID19, NHS ongoing support and other pandemic-related costs.

The time is clear for homeowners and businesses to make sure their investments are NOT “low carbon” BUT “zero-carbon” WITH “zero energy bills” to avoid the risks of funding this huge tax harvesting plan.

Walking into the future with blinkers on “WILL” be very expensive. Remember what Ronald Regan said.
