This installation is a commercial HONE Hot Water System, designed to provide hot water to the guest accommodation all year round.

The vineyard also consumes large amounts of hot water for cleaning and servicing the restaurant. In this location the HONE system will provide nearly all the heat energy required annually.

This home is an existing home which makes the installation of HONE very straight forward. The home had a large commercial wood log boiler which can no be shut down for a few months of the year. HONE is now the primary hot water source.

The system installed is a commercial HONE Hot Water System. The restricted space did not allow any enhanced options. The original oil boiler has been removed mainly due to new taxes and the vineyard owner wanting to decarbonise his business. A wood Log Gasification Boiler now acts as a backup when needed. The HONE system is the core hot water system and carries 3 days worth of hot water in storage. Air quality will improve significantly around the vineyard as well.

The homeowner was facing significant heating bills for the year as the home is approx 3,000 sqft. in size. The home is primarily built with solid concrete walls as this is important in the home being able to keep itself cool under intense summer heat. This mass keeps internal temperatures down. This has the counter effect of needing more heat in winter. This type of construction is a typical trade off in Spain and other hot countries to balance comfort in both the colder winter and hot summer. The outdoor swimming pool will require significant amounts of heat and all this will come from the HONE system all year round if required.

This project was a retrofit, a very simple straight forward project. This project used  with a large volume hot water cylinder as large carryover was a requirement. The existing system was left in situ and the HONE system integrated easily.

The advantages for the homeowners are a collapsed energy bill, significantly less cleaning and loading of wood pellet fuel annually in addition to a significant improvement in air quality around the house.

This system is designed to do most of the annual hot water needs primarily meeting its peak Spring, Summer and Autumn tourist requirements.
